Personal Tracker

Personal new-tab dashboard for Chrome to keep your todos right in front of you every time you open a tab.

Overview

A minimalist personal dashboard consolidating Todo (Kanban + calendar), Notes, Bookmarks, Pomodoro, and habit tracking on a single screen.

All data stored locally in the browser (localStorage), no backend required — set as default/new-tab page in Chrome.

Core idea: turn easily forgotten tasks into something that directly hits your eyes whenever you open a tab.

The problem to solve

I often forget todos, and typical apps require opening them. I wanted them to appear right in front of me without searching.

How we approached it

  • Built as a new-tab page: see todos instantly upon opening Chrome.
  • Consolidates productivity widgets (Kanban, calendar, Pomodoro, notes, bookmarks, habits) into a single screen.
  • Local-first with localStorage, no backend — lightweight, private, and simple to deploy.
  • Used AI (Fable 5) to assist with coding, while I focused on review and direction.

What the product does

Todo Kanban + Calendar

Backlog / Todo / Doing / Done board, with daily calendar view.

Pomodoro

25-minute focus timer with alerts via Web Audio API.

Notes

Quick scratchpad for todos and reminders.

Bookmarks

Group links with metadata fetched via CORS proxy.

Habit Tracking

Streak tracker for daily habits: water intake, reading, exercise...

Technical challenge

Problem

Enable instant use as new-tab, keep it private, and avoid setting up a backend.

Solution

Local-first: all data in localStorage; Notification API + Web Audio API for alerts, and CORS proxy for bookmark metadata — all running client-side.

Results

  • Setting as new-tab keeps todos visible every time a new tab is opened.
  • Public demo running at https://tracker.tensorship.tech
